Homer...Where the Land Meets the Sea
Karen Marquardt
After multiple visits to spend time with family and friends, I moved from Brussels, Belgium to Homer, Alaska in June 2004. As an avid hiker, biker, skier and sailor with a passion for wild and remote places, I find Homer and its environs a unique and ideal location in which to be based. While known as the “End of the Road”, I like to think of our spectacularly beautiful and natural area as the beginning of the journey. If you are looking for a small coastal community full of friendly souls and intriguing characters, a high quality/low-key lifestyle, endless opportunities for spending time outdoors and partaking in world-class sporting adventures - all in a vast wilderness setting with stunning landscape out your front door (not to mention the opportunity to live in one of the nation’s top 100 Art Towns), Homer is the place! Whether for a full-time residence, weekend get-away, retirement home, dream piece of land, large acreage or remote cabin retreat, I work with clients to help them find their spot – the one that makes their heart jump. Specialized in vacant land, residential properties and green building pocket-neighborhoods (new construction), my mission is to serve my clients with top notch service every step of the way. From researching properties and providing all relevant information to negotiating on the client's behalf and meticulously following up and facilitating all transaction details, I place a very high value on the development of a friendly and professional working relationship, one that continues long after the transaction closes. Parlez-vous francais? Sprechen sie deutsch? I can help! I lived in Europe for 14 years, have traveled extensively in foreign lands and very much enjoy interacting with people from different cultures. Amongst other organizations, I am a Board Member of the Center for Alaskan Coastal Studies and a Member of the Kachemak Heritage Land Trust, Kachemak Bay Conservation Society, Bunnell Street Arts Center, KBBI Public Radio Station, Pier One Theatre, Earthwatch, and The Nature Conservancy.
